Kate Ritchie (Sally Fletcher) – Then


Kate Ritchie made her on-screen debut in 1986, in the TV mini-series “Cyclone Tracy”. After having a 2-year hiatus from the screen, she began portraying Sally Fletcher on “Home and Away”, in 1988. Sally certainly had her ups and downs and was loved by the viewers. Before originally departing the show in 2008, she became the longest-running original female character on the show. She reprised her role again from July 2013- September 2013.

Despite being so successful on “Home and Away”, Kate Ritchie’s career never truly took. During her time on the show, she also appeared in the TV movie “Stepfather of the Bride” and short film “Mere Oblivion”. Her most prominent role was in 2010, when she portrayed Samantha Cooper, in the series “Cops LAC”. However, Ritchie has remained busy with other ventures. In 2016, she released a children’s book. The same year, she was announced as the brand ambassador for QV Skincare.

Stephen Peacocke (Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton) – Then


Darryl Braxton was first introduced on “Home and Away” in February 2011. He, and his two brothers, Heath and Casey, became known as the River Boys. Brax’s main storyline dealt with his relationship with Charlie Buckton, until she died. He dealt with his grief by cage-fighting. Braxton made his final appearance on the show in June 2016.

Stephen Peacocke (Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton) – Now


Steve Peacocke may always be remembered as ‘Brax’ by many. However, he has recently begun landing larger roles in the entertainment industry. In 2016, he appeared along side Emilia Clarke, in the movie adaptation of “Me Before You”. That same year, he returned to Australian TV and joined the cast of “Wanted”, as Josh Levine. For those yearning for ‘Brax’, we are sad to report that Peacocke has said he will most likely never return to “Homy and Away”.

Nic Testoni (Travis Nash) – Then


Nic Testoni played Travis Nash from April 1995-August 1999. Nash was described as a golden, tan surfer boy. Unfortunately, all that time in the sun hurt Nash. Kelly spotted melanoma on his back, which he had to get surgically removed. Despite the surgery being a success, Travis changed. He began staying inside much more and spent more time alone. Travis left Summer Bay with Rebecca after finding work on a ship. Viewers, later, discover he and Rebecca bought a home in Canada.

Nic Testoni (Travis Nash) – Now


Nic Testoni only had one on-screen role after “Home and Away”. He had a small role on the TV series “BeastMaster”, in 2001. In an interview, Nic said, “I wanted to try other things and move behind the camera. I studied filmmaking in New York and returned to make a documentary on Aboriginal art for ABC TV.” As of 2016, Nic was working in sales for a events company as well as hosting a radio weekend show.

Laura Vazquez (Sarah Thompson) – Then


Laura Vazquez only portrayed Sarah Thompson for 2 years on the series. Despite only being on the show for a short time, she still had some intense storylines, such as jealous boyfriends and a scary asthma attack. Sarah was seen as a “goody goody” and intelligent. Her main story lines dealt with love interests Tug O’Neale and later Nathan Roberts. Vazquez left the show in October 1994. However, reprised the role of Sarah in guest appearances in 1995 and 2005.

Laura Vazquez (Sarah Thompson) – Now


Before appearing on “Home and Away” Laura Vazquez had appeared on several other TV series such as “BeastMaster” and “All Saints”. But, after leaving “Home and Away” in 2005, she never landed another on-screen role. However, she has returned to “Home and Away”, but just not in front of the camera. She recently started a successful beauty blog and even does makeup on the set of the show.

Tammin Sursok (Dani Sutherland) – Then


Tammin Sursok made her professional on-camera debut as Dani Sutherland in “Home and Away”. Dani always had some heart-wrenching storylines. She was raped by Kane Phillips, who she later hits with her car. She is sent to prison for her crime. If that wasn’t enough she was also harassed by two stalkers. She leaves the Bay after breaking off her engagement to Scott in 2004.

Tammin Sursok (Dani Sutherland) – Now


Tammin Sursok landed roles in various productions after “Home and Away”, such as “Aquamarine”, “The Young and the Restless”, and “Hannah Montana”. She received an Emmy nomination for her role on “The Young and the Restless”, in 2008. However, she is best known for her role as Jenna Marshall on the hit TV series “Pretty Little Liars”, a role which she has been playing since 2010.

Beau Brady (Noah Lawson) – Then


Beau Brady began playing Noah Lawson on “Home and Away” in 2000. Noah had a very controlling and religious mother. She used to light candles around his bed to ward off evil spirits. But, unfortunately, that backfired and Noah’s bed caught on fire and she was sent to a mental institution. After Sarah escapes from a mental home, she takes hostages. Noah steps up to be the hero, but unfortunately he is shot by Sarah. He regularly haunted his wife’s (Hayley) dreams.

Beau Brady (Noah Lawson) – Now


Beau Brady has had small roles in various productions since leaving the “Home and Away”, in 2004, up until to today. Aside from acting, he has also dabbled in production. Today, Brady stays mainly out of the limelight. As of 2016, he was working as a laborer and personal trainer.

Tempany Deckert (Selina Roberts) – Then


Selina Roberts was always a little bit of an outsider due to her promiscuous reputation. She had lived in the Bay her whole life and her parent’s spent most of their time arguing. Therefore, Selina always struggled with her own personal issues. She fell in love with teacher, Steven Matheson. They got and engaged and were going to be married. However, Selina left him on their wedding day. However, Steven later re-pledged his love for her.

Tempany Deckert (Selina Roberts) – Now

Tempany Deckert landed small roles after leaving “Home and Away”. She also returned to her roots of stage acting and appeared in several productions. However, she has seen her biggest success as a writer. She has published several books: The Green-Eyed Monster, Maddy’s Big Break, The Big FudgeFashion Police, and Radio Rebels. She was both the author and illustrator.

Chris Egan (Nick Smith) – Then


Nick Smith originally appeared on “Home and Away” as a guest role in March 1999. At the time, Smith was played by Matt Juarez. However, when Smith became a regular, in April 2000, he was played by Chris Egan. After losing a reality show, Nick is offered his own reality show to be filmed in Hollywood. He accepts and departs from the show in 2003.

Like his character, Chris Egan also moved to Hollywood in 2003. Soon after his move, Egan began landing roles in high profile productions such as “Empire”, “Everwood” and “Resident Evil”. His most recent role was as Alex Lannen on “Dominion”, from 2014-2015.

Nicolle Dickson (Bobby Simpson) – Then


Bobby Simpson, played by Nicolle Dickson, became the last member of the Fletcher family. Throughout her time on the show, Bobby was constantly looking for her place in society and to fulfill her need of family. In 1993, she took a boat trip with Luke. The boat hit a log and everyone was tossed into the water. Bobby fell into a coma. A week later, Greg made the decision to take her off life support. She appeared later a ghost in an episode in 1995.

Nicolle Dickson (Bobby Simpson) – Now


Nicolle Dickson only added 4 more acting credits to her name after leaving “Home and Away” in 1995. She appeared on “All Saints”, “G.P.”, “Wishbone” and “Murder Call”. In 2006, she participated in “Australian Celebrity Survivor”, but was voted out fourth to last. Since leaving acting, she has been working as an accountant and bookkeeper.

Alex Papps (Frank Morgan) – Then

Frank Morgan was the first ever character to appear on “Home and Away”. He is one of the five foster children of the Fletcher family. He was the show’s first heartthrob despite his trademark mullet. Papps originally left the show for a role in “The Flying Doctors” in 1989. However, he returned in 1991, 2000 and 2002 to reprise his role on the show.

Alex Papps (Frank Morgan) – Now

After his last appearance on “Home and Away” in 2002, Papps added a few more on-screen credits to his name. However, what he is most well-known for is hosting the children’s show “Play School”. Despite his success on the children’s show, he is hoping to land more adult and serious roles. He recently appeared on the drama series “Offspring”, and hopes this performance will help him land those dream roles. “I’m still on the audition trail and very committed to acting more,” Papps said. “I’d love to have the opportunity to explore a character (in a drama) beyond a guest role”

Jessica Tovey (Belle Taylor) – Then

Belle Taylor was played by Jessica Tovey from 2006-2009. Belle was a feisty girl who original came to Summer Bay to find her birth mother. She also had a knack for writing and was offered a cadet role at the local paper. Unfortunately, Belle was diagnosed with cancer. She married Aden, but sadly, shortly after, she lost her battle to cancer.

Jessica Tovey (Belle Taylor) – Now

Since leaving “Home and Away”, in 2009, Jessica Tovey has had appearances on many TV series such as “Underbelly”, “Cops LAC”, “Dance Academy” and “Mr and Mrs Murder”. Her most recent role was in 2016, as Kristy, on “Wolf Creek”. Tovey is active in several non-profits, especially those dealing with the protection of the environment and the Great Barrier Reef.

Dieter Brummer (Shane Parrish) – Then

Dieter Brummer was 15-years-old, when he landed the role of Shane Parrish. He first appeared on the show in May 1992, and he departed from the series in March 1996. Brummer left because he felt his character’s story had come to conclusion. During his announcement of his departure, Brummer said, “I know there’s life after ‘Home And Away’ and I’m not afraid of it. Now it’s time it’s time to move on.”

Dieter Brummer (Shane Parrish) – Now

Dieter Brummer has done various appearances since leaving “Home and Away”. He participated in “Celebrity Circus” in 2005 and appeared in TV movies “The Finder” and “True Crime: A Model Daughter”. However, his most prominent roles have been as recurring characters on the hit TV series “Neighbours” (from 2011-2012) and “Winners & Losers” (from 2013-2014). In March 2017, 96FM reported he was helping harness guest in their seats for “Dinner In the Sky”.

Bonnie Sveen (Ricky Sharpe) – Then


Bonnie Sven played Ricky Sharpe from 2013-2016. Prior to playing Ricky, she appeared on 2 episodes of “Home and Away”, in 2010, as Hayley Dovers. Sveen announced the leave from the show on her Instagram, “If someone had told me 10 years ago that I’d be playing a staunch, surfie chick in Summer Bay (and that it would bring me more joy than I could imagine) I wouldn’t have believed them,” Sveen wrote. “Playing Ricky has shaped me for ever. I carry every bond that was forged and so many fond memories, into the new beginning.”

Bonnie Sveen (Ricky Sharpe) – Now


Soon after her leave from “Home and Away”, Bonnie Sveen began filming the TV series “The Secret Daughter”. Unfortunately, this is the only on-screen role Sveen has had since leaving “Home and Away”. However, she has kept busy. She wrote a story, and in order to bring that story to life, she started her own production company, Worker Bee Films. The company debuted its short film “Riley” in May 2017.

Heath Ledger (Scott Irwin) – Then


Prior to appearing on “Home and Away”, Heath Ledger had already played several recurring roles on TV. He appeared on “Ship to Shore”, “Sweat” and “Roar”. On “Home and Away”, he played Shelly’s love interest, Scott Irwin, in 1997. Unfortunately for Shelly, Scott was just using her to get into Fisher’s office to print an exam. Sally ended up telling Don what Scott did. Scott began seeking revenge on Sally with various tricks. In the end, Scott was expelled from the school and sent to Barnhurst.

Heath Ledger went on to have to one of the most celebrated and loved acting careers ever. He starred in box office hits such as “Brokeback Mountain”, “10 Things I Hate About You”, “The Dark Knight” and “Casanova”. He even won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of The Joker in “The Dark Knight”. Sadly, Heath Ledger’s career was cute short and he passed away January 22, 2008, at the age of 28.

Chris Hemsworth (Kim Hyde) – Then


Before landing the role of Kim Hyde, Chris Hemsworth had appeared, in small roles, on series such as “Neighbours” and “Marshall Hall”. However, many believe his role as Kim is what truly kickstarted his career. Kim Hyde came to Summer Bay with his father and principal, Barry. The cute surfer boy certainly drew lots of attention from the ladies and Kim had several complicated relationships. After some soul searching, Kim left the Bay to live with Kit and their new son Archie in 2007.

Chris Hemsworth (Kim Hyde) – Now


Chris Hemsworth is arguably one of the most successful actors from “Home and Away”. His career took off after he left the show, in 2007, and has yet to slow down. He starred in box office hits such as “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Rush”. However, his most notable role has been as Thor in the Marvel movies. He has already portrayed the character in 10 productions and we can expect many more soon.

Melissa George (Angel Parrish) – Then


Melissa George made her on-screen debut as Angel Brooks in 1993. Despite only appearing for 3 years, Angel had quite the tear-jerking storyline. A teenage runaway, Angel, had a rough start in Summer Bay. However, her story seems to turn positive after falling in love with Shane Parrish. They marry in one of the most memorable “Home and Away” episodes ever. However, she also appeared in one of the saddest episodes ever as Shane died in her arms. Angel left Summer Bay in 1996, in search of a new life in England.

Melissa George (Angel Parrish) – Now


“Home and Away” was only the beginning of Melissa George’s career. She has since appeared in various TV shows and films. She had recurring roles on TV series such as “Roar”, “Alias”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, and “The Good Wife”. She had starring roles in films such as “The Amityville Horror” and “30 Days of Night”. Aside from acting, George is also a businesswoman and invented, Style Snaps. Style Snaps is a device that allows you to change the hem length of your pants, without sewing.

Isabel Lucas (Tasha Andrews) – Then


Isabel Lucas originally auditioned for the role of Kit Hunter on “Home and Away”. Unfortunately, producer Julie McGauran, didn’t feel like Isabel was the fit for the role of Kit. However, she liked Isabel so much, she created the character, Tasha Andrews, just for her. Isabel played Tasha from 2003-2006. In 2004, she was won the Logie Award for her performance in the show, for “Most Popular New Female Talent”.

Isabel Lucas (Tasha Andrews) – Now


After leaving “Home and Away”, Isabel quickly landed roles alongside big time actors. She appeared in “Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen”, in 2009, as well as “Daybreakers”, the same year. More recently, 2017 was a big year for Lucas as well. She appeared in films “That’s Not Me” and “Shooting in Vain”, along with having recurring roles on “Emerald City” and “MacGyver”. Despite appearing on several TV series, Lucas admits she doesn’t watch a lot of TV because she doesn’t own one!

Luke Mitchell (Romeo Smith) – Then


Before playing Romeo Smith on “Home and Away”, Luke Mitchell appeared on TV series such as “Neighbours” and “H2O: Just Add Water”. Romeo was considered fun-loving and confident, two traits that were very attractive to the ladies. He had memorable relationships with Annie Campbell and Indi Walker. Mitchell announced he would leave the show in 2012, and his last appearance was in April 2013. However, he reprised Romeo again for a brief cameo in October 2013.

Luke Mitchell left “Home and Away” so he could star in the new CW series “Tomorrow People”. Sadly, the show only last for one season. However, it was enough to catch the eyes of several casting directors. He has since landed recurring roles on hit TV series such as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Blindspot”.

Indiana Evans (Matilda Hunter) – Then


Indiana Evans made her professional on-screen debut in 2003 in the TV series “All Saints”. That same year she landed the recurring role of Abbie Oakley on “Snobs”. The following year, she landed the role of Matilda Hunter on “Home and Away”. She last appeared on the show in July 2008, as her character Matilda was off to university.

Indiana Evans (Matilda Hunter) – Now


Indiana Evans continue to see success on TV. Since leaving “Home and Away”, she has had recurring roles on TV series such as “H2O: Just Add Water”, “Crownies”, “Secrets and Lies” and “Ash Vs Evil Dead”. During her time on “H2O: Just Add Water”, Evans also dabbled in singing and helped create several of the TV series soundtracks. Along with acting, Evans is also a model and has done several editorial shoots.

Isla Fisher (Shannon Reed) – Then

Comedic actress Isla Fisher began playing Shannon Reed on “Home and Away” in 1994. During her time on the show, Shannon Reed dealt with some very heavy storylines such as anorexia and sexuality. Reed left the show, in 1997, to spend the rest of her life in Paris with Mandy. Fisher received a nomination for a Logie award in 1995 and 1997 for her portrayal as Shannon.

Isla Fisher (Shannon Reed) – Now


Although she landed several small roles after leaving “Home and Away”, Isla Fisher’s breakout role was as Mary Jane in 2002’s “Scooby Doo”. Since then, her career has continued to flourish. She has had roles in hit films such as “Wedding Crashers”, “Now You See Me”, and “Nocturnal Animals”. She married fellow comedic actor Sacha Baron Cohen in 2010.
