Train travel doesn’t get as much credit as it used to, and that’s a real shame. It’s a great way to see some really gorgeous landscapes. Sure, it takes longer to get where you’re going than say, a commercial flight, but if you have an appreciation for nature and you’re not in a rush, train travel is a great option.
An even more environmentally friendly way to get around is to hop on a bicycle and start pedaling. Travel distances are usually limited by physical stamina, but if you combine bike riding with a train ride you can cover a lot of scenic ground, all without making a big impact on the environment. Check out these travel destinations for some great train and bike trips!

This bike/train adventure puts passengers on board the “Mountain Thunder,” an antique steam locomotive that travels from Cumberland to Frostburg, Maryland.
